Since our founding in 2015, Moss Builders has built 25 homes on Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key. As Anna Maria locals, Jim and Ryan Moss know the island inside and out. An uncle and nephew team, Jim and Ryan each have years of experience building custom homes on Anna Maria Island. With over 40 years of combined experience between the two of them, they are custom home contractors you can trust.

Meet Your Contractors
RYAN MOSS
Owner, General Contractor
Ryan Moss has lived on Anna Maria Island since 2002, but his family ties to the Island go back several generations. Ryan's grandparents, Gene and Elizabeth Moss, were recognized as Anna Maria Citizens of the year in 2003 and were named The Sun's Persons of the Year in 2004. His father, Ed, is the pastor of Cross Pointe Fellowship on Holmes Beach. Ryan and his wife, Emily, live on the Anna Maria with their two young sons, Mason and Miles. Ryan is a state licensed residential and commercial general contractor, and he has worked in construction on Anna Maria Island for 13 years. Ryan began his career as a carpenter, physically building and learning all aspects of hands-on new construction, renovations, and additions. After practicing the trade of carpentry for 8 years and learning the industry inside out, Ryan obtained his contractor's license. He since managed over 60 homes on Anna Maria Island, including multiple DEP projects.
JIM MOSS
Owner, Residential Contractor
Jim Moss and his wife, Debbie, are both natives of Manatee County. Jim was raised on Anna Maria Island and Debbie grew up in the Cortez Fishing Village. They currently live on the island and have three children: Brent, Amy, and Gregory. Jim's family ties date back to the very beginning of Anna Maria Island history. His father, Gene Moss, was a founding board member of the Anna Maria Island Community Center. His mother, Elizabeth Moss, was a charter member of the Anna Maria Island Historical Society and is featured in the Anna Maria Historical Society's book, The Early Years. Both Gene and Elizabeth were teachers at Anna Maria Elementary School, where Jim and his twin brother, Ed, attended as children. Jim has a BA from the University of South Florida and an MA from the University of Florida. He is also an Eagle Scout. Jim has been a licensed state contractor since 1994, and has worked with hundreds of homeowners over the past 21 years. He is also a state licensed home inspector and insurance adjustor.
